Entryway

Swapping heavy wood tones for a light, cohesive entry centered on the view of the backyard.
The before

The moment we walked in, the wooded view stole the show

With sightlines stretching into the vaulted living room toward the expansive arched window, the entry hall felt far more grand.

Classic picture-frame molding lined the walls, while pocket doors opened into adjoining rooms. Underfoot, medium wood LVP floors were competing with honey-oak wood baseboards and doorways, while simple iron flush-mount fixtures and canned lighting lit the space overhead.

Brass details and a fresh foundation

To elevate the entry, we upgraded the flush mounts to all-brass fixtures with milk glass globes and stripped away the wall molding for a fresh foundation. Painting the trim and doors white stopped the floors from competing, creating a seamless feel that lets the backyard view shine as the true focal point. Next, we plan to install a new front door, update the entry closet, and add decor.
