Bre's Office

We sprayed the honey oak trim and doors a fresh white. The walls, once muddy beige, are now Benjamin Moore's Calm, after a brief experiment with moodier tones. We repaired drywall, installed dimmers, and added a wool rug, drapery, a new desk, and a styled bookshelf. We’re still searching for the perfect wall art.
The before

A space trapped in honey oak

A modern looking living room featuring a dark gray sectional sofa, matching oversized ottoman, a wood TV stand beneath a blue board-and-batten accent wall, and wood-toned windows.

Sitting between the kitchen and living room, this breakfast nook had good bones and plenty of natural light pouring in from the patio doors.

However, the honey-oak doors and frames, traditional panel doors, and heavy wood trim pulled the eye inward and made the room feel smaller than it was. Even the light seemed to stop at the edges, leaving the space closed in and more like a passage than a place to sit.
